What We Do
From the 1.2 million tons of scrap metal locally generated, Cyclosteel melts 350 thousand tons in an electric arc furnace. 47% of the electricity is provided locally by a 90 MW solar power park, a 24 MW wind turbine park and an 85 MW / 255 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) to optimize renewable energy use.

Full Electrification
Cyclosteel uses direct electricity exclusively at each production step as energy source. Our factory proudly stands as the world’s first steel mill without any chimneys emitting CO₂ from burning fossil fuel.

Behind Our Numbers
Power
Cyclosteel’s steelmaking technology requires up to 70 MW of electric power.
Our dedicated local renewable energy park directly supplies 47% of the electricity required. The rest is covered by other green energy sources through the grid.
Production
Due to scarce local production, more than 800 thousand tons of goods are annually imported to our region that Cyclosteel is capable of delivering.
Emission
While current best practice steelmaking using Electric Arc Furnaces (EAF) typically generates approximately 95 thousand tons of CO₂ emissions per 320 thousand tons of finished steel, Cyclosteel achieves a remarkable net negative emission of 50 thousand tons of CO₂.
